Mineros’ history starts at the beginning of the 1900’s, when British and American investors made the first explorations in search of alluvial gold in the Nechí River. The positive results obtained by them brought the first bucket dredgers to the region in 1908, which were operated by the foreigners.
In 1974, Mineros turned into a Colombian capital company. Back then, its name was Mineros Colombianos, and was the owner of Mineros de Antioquia and Mineros del Chocó. Mineros del Chocó was sold in 1978 and in 2004, we changed our name to Mineros S.A.
In 2007, our annual production was 68,113 oz Au and the new strategic long-term goal established in 2008 was of 500,000 oz AuEq per year.
We expanded our alluvial operations in Nechí and began underground mining in 2011, at La Ye Mine in Colombia. We acquired HEMCO Property in Nicaragua in 2013 and by the end of 2018, we acquired 100% of Gualcamayo Property from Yamana Gold, Inc. With these acquisitions and a higher production, we reached 289,924 oz Au in 2019, which represented more than a 4-fold increase vs. 2013 production.
On the other hand, following our asset optimization strategy and in order to focus on operations with higher profitability and expansion potential, in June, 2020, we sold our interest in Operadora Minera, an underground mining operation in Colombia, to Para Resources Inc., currently Soma Gold Corp.
To reach our goal, we continue our permanent search for new acquisitions, investing in expansion projects and exploration targets. We work for the wellbeing of all, with responsible and sustainable mining activities, protecting the environment, generating development opportunities and offering a better future for our workers, their families and the communities where we have presence, adding value to our shareholders.
