Hemco Property – Operating

In Nicaragua, we own and operate the Hemco Property, a mining operation located in Bonanza, a large municipality on the Caribbean Coast in the northeastern part of the country. Here, we operate two underground mines (Panama and Pioneer) and have an artisanal mining program (the Bonanza Model) where we work with local artisanal miners to purchase and process their ore.

  • Gold production: Our concessions cover 2,270 hectares within the historic “Golden Triangle” region, with a total package spanning 200,000 hectares. We mine underground employing mechanized techniques and purchase ore from artisanal miners through the Bonanza Model, which offers economic and social benefits to artisanal miners based on a fair and dignified contractually-defined relationship. The ore extracted from these three sources is processed by one of three processing plants with a combined capacity of 2,000 tonnes per day.
  • Energy Source: We operate a hydroelectric capacity of 5 MW.
